The Marina District sits within one of Wilmington’s most active waterfront growth corridors — linking the Riverwalk, marina activity, entertainment, residences, restaurants, and riverfront businesses.
Wilmington Downtown, iNC describes the Marina District as one of the city's hottest spots for growth, with apartments and condominiums, marina amenities, waterfront restaurants, event spaces, and a 7,200-seat amphitheater that opened in 2021.
The district reflects a larger riverfront story: connecting downtown Wilmington to the Cape Fear River through walkability, public-facing uses, and long-term private investment.
Wilmington’s Riverwalk now spans approximately 1.75 miles along the Cape Fear River. Public reporting notes that more than $40 million has been invested in Riverwalk construction over time, with city officials attributing more than $250 million in recent riverfront development to areas connected to the pathway.
